Gillian Anderson posted a clarification on October 4, 2026, after a stage-door video circulated involving repeat attendees at her West End production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

The video showed Anderson telling the attendees that repeatedly sitting in the front row was distracting, according to The Guardian and CNN.

In her statement on X, Anderson said she had known the women for more than 20 years and asked viewers not to direct negativity at them.

She also explained that audience members in front-row seats can be visible in the intimate venue. The Guardian and CNN covered both the video and her clarification.
